2 Projects

2.1 Project essentials

A project consists of one or several plot records that share a profile and lookups. Projects help to keep your data organized and they are the basic unit for data export and sharing. The projects are listed in the Projects and profiles view, which is also the start page of the app.

2.2 Adding and deleting a project

Add a new project in the projects tab of the Projects and profiles view. Just tap on the green icon with the folder symbol. You will be prompted for a project name and for a profile to be assigned. You also need to define cover scale and cover code lookups for entering species data (the selection is irreversible after the first species entries). Use the menu to load projects stored as VS XML files, to set lookups and to change the profile. You can delete a project from the list by tapping on the red bin next to it.

2.3 Editing and saving a project

Tapping on a project in the projects tab opens the plot list view where plots can be added or removed. Use the menu to save the project under a different name, to set lookups and to change profile. Be careful with profile changes since changing some attributes like layer definitions may cause trouble if you have already entered data.

2.5 Visualising plot locations

You can show a map of plot locations by tapping on one of the globe icons in the plot list view. This opens a map with markers. The globe icon is greyed out if the respective plot has no coordinates. Tapping on a marker on the map brings you to the respective plot view. The map view requires an active internet connection or a cached map (the Maps for mobile help shows how to cache maps).
