Projekt: Ecological resizing through urban and rural actions & dialogues for GHG mitigation in the Lower Danube Floodplains & Danube Delta (EDAPHIC-BLOOM DANUBE)

This project is part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU). The EUKI aims to boost knowledge formation and transfer about climate change.

The main goal of EDAPHIC-BLOOM DANUBE is to enhance greenhouse gas mitigation in the Lower Danube region by organic soils conservation and restoration (EDAPHIC part) and enhancing energy efficiency in the built environment sector (BLOOM part).

The Department of Wetland Ecology will estimate Carbon stock and sequestration of the delta’s riparian vegetation by investigating biomass of different vegetation types in Danube Delta.

The findings of the project will result in a Master Plan to provide possibilities for reducing the GHG emissions in the region support and Romanian authorities in decision making.
